New Camp Facility
Due to the year-round school schedule of the Chicago Public Schools the Chicago Alive Youth Camp is limited to having its summer camp in the month of July. Presently we rent a canp for 125 urban kids plus staff of 50 in July. Sadly we are turning kids away.
Ideally we would like to have weekly camps for more than 50 youth each, with one age specific group at a time (9-11; 12-14; 15-17) instead of three camps simultaneously. Having one age group at a time produces a higher quality and a more personal camping experience. A new camp facility would also allow us to expand to have residential camp sessions throughout the year that coincide with the Chicago Public Schools.
The camp facility would also become a new site for Beckon mentoring retreats.
We are looking for a small group of real estate and finance professionals to spend 2-3 hours brainstorming about ways to meet our camp location needs.
One option we are pursuing is to purchase a bank owned or foreclosed property that can be used for our camp activities. We need a real estate or banking professional to help us search for foreclosed properties and help us approach banks that own these properties.
Once a property is identified, we will need a group of real estate, finance and strategic planning professional to help develop a 5 year business plan to most effectively utilise the property.
